1. Strong Technical Capacity
China Iron & Steel Research Institute Group (CISRI, former Central Iron & Steel Research Institute) was founded in 1952.
It was directly under the original Ministry of Metallurgical Industry at that time. In July, 1997, it was transformed into
a large technological enterprise directly under the central government of China.
Now it is the largest integrated R&D organization of metallurgical Industry in China.
CISRI has been established for more than 50 years.
During the time, it has obtained over 4000 scientific research achievements in many fields such as materials science,
metallurgical technology & engineering, analysis & testing, etc. among which 252 were honored with national awards,
913 were honored with provincial and ministerial Scientific and Technological Progress awards, and 655 were honored
with authorized patents (over 50% are invention patents).
Now there are 6 special experts working in CISRI.
Each of them is the academician of Chinese Academy of Science or the academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering.
Furthermore, one of them is a duplex academician.
CISRI not only sets up a first-level discipline authorization spot, but also has 8 authorities for conferring
second-level doctor's degree, 11 authorities for conferring second-level master's degree.
Moreover, there are 2 professional centers for post-doctoral studies and 8 enterprise post-doctoral research centers in CISRI.
As the R&D base of Chinese metallurgical new material, CISRI undertook more than 85% develop tasks of pivotal metallurgical new materials.
It developed and manufactured a lot of pivotal materials for many national major projects such as Two Nuclear Bombs
and One Satellite, Changzheng Series Carrier Rocket, Shengzhou Spacecraft, etc. In a word, CISRI has made
a great contribution to Chinese national economy and national defense.
AS one of the pioneers that researched and developed Isostatic Press in the world, CISRI began the R&D work about i
sostatic press in 1962. The following isostatic presses are all produced from it.

CISRI began to research and develop Sinter-Hot Isostatic Press (Sinter-HIP) in 1991, and manufactured the first
homemade Sinter-HIP subsequently.
At present the Sinter-HIP has been a serial product.
Till now, nearly 100 sets of Sinter-HIP with different types manufactured by CISRI have been employed in China and abroad.
The users involve about 60 internal and overseas manufactories.
2. Safe and Credible Design
CISRI has obtained the certificate of high pressure and ultra-high pressure vessel designing, issued by Ministry of Labor.
A thorough consideration will be given in the process of designing. Furthermore, CISRI has accumulated a lot of
experience due to its R&D work in high temperature and high pressure equipment for more than 40 years.
All the shortcomings in early equipment have been improved and consummated.
So the stability and reliability of the equipment also have increased greatly.
To ensure the safety, all sorts of safety interlocking, especially the safety interlocking with multiple safeguards in
case of temperature exceeding or pressure exceeding, have been realized in the equipment.
3. Good Adaptability
Equipment with different types manufactured by CISRI have been employed in China and abroad.
The users involve internal and overseas manufactories, among which some are large state enterprises,
small privately owned businesses, Taiwan businesses or overseas enterprises.
All of these show that CISRI can accommodate itself to the different material and technology requirements.
4. Perfect Supporting system
Take the Sinter-HIP as an example, besides the functions required by the customers, such as vacuum sintering,
pressure sintering, carbon content adjusting, pressure distributing, vacuum dewaxing, hydrogen gas dewaxing,
rapid cooling, and so on, the equipment has internal circulation cooling system, gas recovery system,
pushcart for loading and discharging, etc.
The supporting systems also can be designed according to the user’s special requirements.
So the equipment made by CISRI can completely satisfy all kinds of needs of users.
5. Speedy Delivery
Chinese companies are competitive and Chinese workers are industrious, which guaranteed more speedy
delivery than some other countries.
6. Fine After Service
CISRI has the capability to ensure the equipment running all year round.
If the customers need, serviceman will get to the site as soon as possible.
CISRI has enough stock of spare parts.
If the customers need, the spare parts will be sent out within 5 hours after
CISRI received the formal notice from them.
CISRI will train operator and maintenance man for the customers.
CISRI will visit the customers regularly, give the equipment proper
maintenance and listen to the customer’s opinion and suggestion modestly.
7. Strong Risk Resistibility
CISRI is a large technological enterprise directly under the central government of China,
in which there are over 6000 employees.
Its annual production value is nearly 6 billion RMB (about 0.88 billion USD).
It has such strong risk resistibility that the general middling enterprises
and small enterprises cannot compare with it.
8. CISRI Human Resources
By the time of March 2007, the China Iron and Steel Research Institute Group´s total staff number has reached 7489,
among which 2688 are regular staff.
The regular staff include 1889 professionals, 6 academicians of CAS(Chinese Academy of Sciences) and
CAE(Chinese Academy of Engineering), 23 middle-aged and young experts with outstanding contributions ,
306 experts entitled to Government Special Allowance(GSA),
2 candidates for state-level New Century National Hundred,
Thousand and Ten Thousand Talent Project,
47 PhD candidate supervisors, and 103 Master candidate instructors.
Among the 1889 professionals, 750 and 195 enjoy vice-senior and senior titles, respectively.
The numbers of staff with doctoral, master, and bachelor degrees have reached 122, 430 and 858, respectively.
